How do I get into the makeup/special makeup effects for Hollywood industry?

Author: I am currently going to school for cosmetology and have been working on makeup as my specialty. I thought that going into the Hollywood world for makeup and or special effects makeup would be a dream job. Does anybody have any tips, experience or advice on how to prepare myself and or get my foot in the door?
